What red wine goes the best with steak?

September 8, 2010

For instance merlot, burgundy, etc. Which type of red wine compliments steak (or any other red meat for that matter) the best?

I’d choose a nice Cabernet Sauvignon to go with a good steak.

Pinot Noir for duck, salmon, and lamb.

Zinfandel with grilled meats.

If you want to cook with the wine and drink it, take a look at the recipes and wine suggestions at this site: http://www.cheers2wine.com/cooking-with-wine.html

How to Enjoy Red Wine Better

September 6, 2010

Although most people drink red wine at room temperature, you should know that it can be better enjoyed at certain temperatures because the right one can greatly increase the flavor of the red wine.  Too cold a temperature, and you will lose the opportunity of totally enjoying the full flavors of the red wine; and too warm a temperature, and the red wine will seem a bit flat.  Plus, warm red wine is not refreshing at all.

So, what are the right temperatures for the different Types Of Red Wines?

If you have a bottle of simple red wines that are a bit fruity, then you can best enjoy its full flavors when it is cooled.  In fact, red wines of this type should have the coolest temperature than the other types if you want to enjoy its full taste.  In contrast to light and fruity red wines, red wines that have intense and more complex flavors can be best enjoyed if it has a warmer temperature.  However, it should be noted that warmer temperature does not mean the same as the room temperature itself, unless the room is as cool as that of a castle’s.  What you can do instead is to put the bottle in the refrigerator for half an hour, and when it is cool enough, allow it to sit at room temperature before serving it to your guests.  The warmth of your guests’ hand can also help warm the red wine.

When it comes to the cost of the red wine bottle, it is best to serve cheaper red wines at a lower temperature; while it is best to serve expensive red wine bottles at warmer temperature.  The warmer temperature will greatly enhance the flavor of the high-quality red wine.

Remember that you can best enjoy a red wine if it is at a temperature that will highlight its full flavors yet, at the same time, provides refreshment.  To be on the safe side, never consume a red wine that has a temperature of more than 15-degrees Celsius and less than 16-degrees Celsius.

As for the glass choice, red wines are best enjoyed when served in a glass that has a bigger bowl and a slightly narrowed top, much like an oval-shaped glass.  The ample space gives enough room for you to swirl the red wine around and release the flavors, letting the red wine “breath,” so to speak; while the narrow top enhances the red wine aroma as it funnels the smell up to your nostrils.

With the proper temperature and the appropriate glass, you will fully enjoy all the aroma and the full taste of the red wine.

What brand red wine to use with serloin steak?

August 29, 2010

I have a recipe for Red wine Sirloin Steak. It doesn’t say what kind of wine to use. Can someone tell me a good wine to use that doesn’t cost alot?
And just out of curiosity could I use Red wine vinegar or is that totally different?
*Also, please give me a suggestion that is easy to find…. like at a Walmart.
lol, okay. No red wine vinager.

Don’t need a brand name for cooking, and definitely no red wine vinegar. Whatever is on special this week will be fine in the shiraz, cabernet savignion, or merlot. The idea that you need a good wine for cooking is misguided.

What brand or type of red wine is good to drink before a good night of sex?

August 29, 2010

I’d like to know which good brands are out there to set a good mood for a romantic night??

Well, first of all, you need to understand that it is all about the ladies. If you are planning on having red wine WITH dinner, you want to go for the soft, light and fruity ones like: (those are grape names, the ones that the wine is made of, you will normally see them on the label) Cabernet Franc, Gamay and Pinot Noir.
Or, if you want to drink wine alone, all listed above are good. But you may want to try Fragolino (name) by La Giogiosa (brand), This is like Champagn but red, and is very sweet campared to a regular red wine. It does not say on the label the name of the grape its made of but I know that its normal wine, grape juice, sugar and gas. I dont really like it but the ladies JUST LOVE IT!!!! You cant be wrong with this one

P.S. If your lady dont like it, let me know and I’ll just shoot my self =]

what can you use to replace dry red wine in a recipe?

August 19, 2010

I am trying to make an Ethopian Dry braised chicken recipe and it calls for red wine, which I cannot use for the folks I am cooking it for, so I need to know what items can be used to substitute for dry red wine that are non alcoholic in nature. thank you
Please understand, I realize the cooking process removes the content of the alcohol, but for religious reasons I cannot use the alcohol at all therefore I need an actual substitute.

Cranberry juice is about as good a substitute as you’re going to get. However, I think I’d probably just pick another recipe. Changing the key ingredient in a braised recipe is just asking for trouble.
