Health benefits of red wine?

May 1, 2010

Red wine is supposed to be beneficial for the heart and arteries and is supposed to relieve some of the damage done by fatty/high cholesteral foods. Do you have to drink it with dinner to get these benefits, or does it work just as well a couple of hours after when your stomach is empty?

You want the beneficial anti-oxidants in your system the same time as the fatty foods. It does not relieve the damage, I believe, so much as prevent it.

Even better, snack on various fruits throughout the day, so you always have them working for you.

Blueberries and pomegranates, and their juices have even higher amounts of anti-oxidants than red wine. Green tea is also excellent.

Part of the mechanism is prevention of oxidation of LDL cholesterol, which is then picked up in the plaques, making them bigger, little by little. Keep the LDL un-oxidized, minimize opportunity for blockage expansion.

The pomegranate anti-oxidants are actually supposed to have some reversal properties.

Some people drink it at dinner, some people have it after dinner, it doesn’t really matter. As long as you’re drinking a glass a day.

It is good so long as one is not exceeding the limit.

If u have not been drinking, please do not start just for its benefits. If u r used to alchohol intake, u might switch over to red wine and it is always good to take it with food.

Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. Chew each morsel at least 32 times to activate ur body to generate signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.

Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.

U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry. It is however to be noted that one cannot change the shape or size of different parts of the body.

This is a good example of a misconception. Red wine, however having beneficial properties of reducing heart disease, it also is fermented grape juice, which means alcohol. You can get the same benefits just by drinking grape juice with every meal without the harmful effects of alcohol.
