What type of red wine is good for you?

February 5, 2010

I know red wine is good for your heart and can be an anti oxidant, what type, or is all red wine good? Also is white wine good for you too?
well YEAH im going to drink! lol but i would rather drink one that has more health benefits =)

All wine, red or white, is good for your heart. Red wine, since it contains more tannins and more resveratrol, is generally better for you – but both are good for you.

Full bodied reds, which contain more anti-oxidants than lighter reds, will be better for you – and lighter reds better for you than whites.

It is NOT true that grape juice is just as good for you as wine. The alcohol in wine helps reduce the risk of heart-attack or stroke. There’s no alcohol in grape juice!

Any red wine. No, red is better than white.

Grape juice is just as beneficial as red wine, btw, if you’re just shopping for an excuse to drink. :)

It is all types of red wine. Red wine can be very healthy if you drink it in moderation. White wine is kinda healthy but not really as much as red.

The good stuff apparently is in the grape. Purple grape juice reduces blood clotting. And a study by researchers at the University of California confirmed the findings that non alcoholic red wine contains the same antioxidant profile as red wine. White wine is great to help lower your cholesterol and also provides you with potassium which helps keep your blood pressure at a normal level.

I drink something like 1 glass of red wine a day. It relaxes me and has great health benefits. My red wine of choice is a 1999 Ravenswood Vintners Blend Merlot. It’s wonderful. It has a delicious smooth taste and is fairly inexpensive. Here’s some information on my favorite red win.

    Red wine.

All the health benefits are washed down the toilet if you have more than a couple glasses though.

Unlike what the "expert" above me said, it’s NOT the alcohol in the wine that is healthy, it’s the tannins. Those same tannins are in red grape juice as well. A little search on Google will help uncover those facts. LOL

Actually. The main benefit of wine many scientist believe are compounds called phytochemicals, and reservatrol. Red Zinfandel has the highest quantity of reservatrol. Now, most people think Zinfandel is cheap, sweet wine. However, old vine Zinfandel can be excellent. A inexpensive, but nice Zinfandel I’d recommend is: Foxglove 2007 Zinfandel. Smooth, well balanced, and healthy!
